School bus in Kashmir rolls into gorge, 3 killed (Lead)
July 11th, 2012 - 8:15 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, July 11 (IANS) A school bus in Kashmir met with an accident Wednesday morning when it skidded off the road and rolled into a gorge, killing three people, officials said.
The accident occurred near the town of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The bus carrying children and staff for an excursion to Gulmarg reportedly went out of the driver’s control, skidded and rolled into the gorge.
The toll from the accident rose to three when the driver of the bus succumbed to his injuries Wednesday evening.
Earlier, a student and a teacher of Iqra Public School Khumbriyal (Lolab), Kupwara, died on the spot.
Thirty others have been injured in the accident.
“The injured have been shifted to various hospitals in Srinagar city,” a senior police officer told IANS.
