London, Dec.1 (ANI): The England cricket team may not turn up for the two-Test series against India next month, if their safety is not absolutely ensured.
According to The Times, England’’s cricketers face a complex decision over the next few days over whether to travel or not to travel to India to play the Tests in Ahmedabad and Chennai.
A decision about whether England should return to India to play will be based only on a single question: is it safe to return?
Hugh Morris, the managing director of England cricket, confirmed yesterday that this would be the way forward for the ECB, whose directors were meeting last night.
He suggested that security reports would come over the next 24 to 48 hours from a variety of sources, from the Foreign Office, from embassies in India and from Reg Dickason, the man who provides daily security reassurance to the players and their families, and only then would a decision be made to tour or not to tour.
He said that England cricket would respect the advice provided to it by experts. (ANI)
