SC asks Govt. to notify CBI probe into Batcha’s death in three days

New Delhi, Apr 4 (ANI): The Supreme Court today directed the government to issue within three days a notification for handing to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) the probe the mysterious death of former Telecom Minister A Raja’s aide Sadiq Batcha.

An apex court bench of Justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly said : “In the facts and circumstances of the case, we direct the government to issue notification within three days transferring the investigation of the case to the CBI. Thereafter, the CBI will take over the investigation.”

The apex court passed the order after taking on record Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising’s statement that Tamil Nadu Government has given its consent for transfer of the probe to the CBI.

She said a notification in this regard will be issued and all the preconditions have been satisfied under the law.

The CBI had on April 1 told the Supreme Court that it is ready to probe Sadiq Batcha’s mysterious death.

Batcha, 39, was found hanging in his home in Chennai on March 16.

He was the Managing Director of Greenhouse Promoters, a firm under the scanner of CBI and Enforcement Directorate in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. (ANI)
