Saucy ‘call girl’ billboard disrupts traffic

Wellington, May 13 (ANI): The traffic in central Christchurch, New Zealand, is not running smoothly anymore all because of a nationwide billboard campaign that is promoting the new Prime Television programme Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

Bus-stop billboards, which feature a modestly attired woman during the day who turns decidedly salacious after dark, has caught the attention of central Christchurch motorists, who forget moving when they see the hoardings.

Lisa Franklin, a spokeswoman for Prime Television, said back-lighting on the boards came up after dark to reveal sexy lingerie on the call girl.

She said that she was not sure whether the changeover occurred before the watershed time of 8:30pm, when adult content is allowed to appear on television.

“That depends on what time it gets dark in Christchurch these days,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Franklin, as saying.

Another billboard shows a skirt that blows up in the wind to reveal the legs of a call girl clad in suspenders.

Many drivers were spotted being so transfixed by the billboard that they failed to move when the traffic lights turned green.

The Advertising Standards Authority said that it had received complaints over the campaign.

“In considering complaints about a billboard, we take into account that they reach a wide range of audience, unlike some other forms of media,” an ASA spokeswoman said.

Franklin said Prime TV could not comment on the complaints.

“We’ve not had any complaints and we have run everything very carefully and stringently past the governing body,” she said.

“She (the call girl) is scantily clad, but certainly not any worse than you would see for a large number of other programmes,” she added. (ANI)
