Sathya Sai Baba’s death a loss to humanity: Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi New Delhi, Apr 26 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who paid his last respects to prominent spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Puttaparthi, on Tuesday said the Baba’s death was a great loss to humanity.

“The whole of Gujarat has been happy from his blessings. As the whole world is sad after Baba’s death, my Gujarat is sad as well. I pay my tribute to Baba from the core of my heart. I believe that Baba’s life will continue to inspire and guide us for the coming ages,” said Modi.

Several other political leaders including Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi also paid their last respects to the late Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Sathya Sai Baba, who was admitted to the super-speciality hospital at Prashantigram at Puttaparthi on March 28, passed away following cardio-respiratory failure on Sunday morning. He was 85.His body has been wrapped in a saffron-coloured cloth and kept in a glass casket in the ashram’s Sai Kulwant Hall. The Baba will be buried in the Sai Kulwant Hall in Prashanti Nilayam on Wednesday morning in line with the practice adopted for spiritual leaders in India, contrary to the Hindu custom of cremating bodies.
