Sankaranarayanan takes oath as Jharkhand Governor
July 26th, 2009 - 5:19 pm ICT by ANIRanchi, July 26 (ANI): K. Sankaranarayanan on Sunday took oath as the Governor of Jharkhand, which is currently under President’s rule.
Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice, Gyan Sudha Mishra, administered oath of office at the Raj Bhavan here.Sankaranarayanan, who was the Governor of Nagaland and Assam, succeed Syed Sibtey Razi.
Born on October 15, 1932, Sankaranarayanan was a Minister in the Kerala cabinets of K Karunakaran in 1977 and A K Antony in 2001. He was also asked to assume additional charge of Arunachal Pradesh for some time.
He has held the portfolios of finance and agriculture in the state cabinet.
He served for long as the convener of the UDF coalition, led by the Congress. After the party split in 1969, he has been a frontline Congress leader in his state. (ANI)
