New Delhi, Jan 31 (ANI): Sania Mirza- Mahesh Bhupati won the Australian Open mixed doubles title on Sunday, beating Nathalie Dechy and Andy Ram.
Sania Mirza became the first Indian woman to win a grand slam tournament.
The Indian pair defeated Dechy and Ram in a straight set of 6-3 6-1.
Tennis star Mahesh Bhupati had the seventh win in the grand slam mixed doubles, earlier ones being played with different partners.
His last grand slam win was also an Australian Open title in 2006 in which Martina Hingis partnered him.
The Indian duo experienced a tough start in the quarter finals, but remained unseeded thrashing the Australian pair Anastasia Rodionova and Stephen Huss reaching the tournament finals. (ANI)
