Samjhauta blast case: India will share info with Pak, says Chidambaram
January 30th, 2011 - 5:35 pm ICT by ANIDavos, Jan 30 (ANI): Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has said India will share information with Pakistan once the probe in the 2007 Samjhauta blast case is over.
“We have not said that we will not provide evidence. These are early phases of investigation…once the investigation is over we will share the evidence with Pakistani authorities,” he said.
Chidambaram said that he had conveyed India’s position to his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik.
“We had no indication earlier as to who may have been behind the attack. Now we have some evidence. A couple ofpeople are suspects,” he told NDTV here.
He said that right-wing Hindu group Abhinav Bharat member Swami Aseemanand has confessed his involvement in the Samjhauta case as also in the Malegoan blast case before a court.
Aseemanand was arrested on November 19, 2010 for his alleged involvement in the Ajmer, Hyderabad and Samjhauta Express blasts, which all took place in the year 2007.
Earlier, Aseemanand revealed that his alleged right hand man, Sunil Joshi, who was murdered in mysterious circumstances in Dewas in Madhya Pradesh on December 29, 2007, was behind the Malegaon bombing of September 2006.
He has also reportedly given graphic details of how Indresh and several others were working in tandem planning terror strikes.
Sixty-eight people, mostly Pakistanis, were killed when bombs were set off in two coaches of cross-country Samjhauta Express, running between Delhi and Lahore, around midnight on February 18, 2007 at Diwana near Panipat. (ANI)
