Samajwadi Party blames Mayawati for clashes in UPJanuary 11th, 2008 - 10:57 am ICT by admin
Lucknow, Jan 11 (ANI): The Samajwadi Party (SP) has blamed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for the violence in the state in which at least one person was killed and many others were injured.
Party general secretary Amar Singh said that the state police would be held responsible if anything happens to his party boss Mulayam Singh Yadavs family members.
“Mayawati said that if something happens to her then Congress will be responsible for it. I want to say that if something happens to Shivpal and Akhilesh Yadav, Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh, then Director-General of Police Vikram Singh, Brij Pal and Mayawati will be responsible,” said Amar Singh.
Tension prevailed in the state as the SP workers continued to stage protests in various parts of the state on Thursday against the arrest of the former Uttar Pradesh chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Akhilesh and and brother Shivpal.
SP protesters took to streets condemning the state government for the violence.
Several towns in Uttar Pradesh have been reeling under violence since Wednesday.
Incidents of violence were reported from Varanasi when members of Samajwadi Chatra Dal, the SPs student-wing, congregated to stage a demonstration against a reported state government decision to close three state-run colleges following violence in the town. (ANI)
