Salman Khurshid lays foundation stone for NPCC’s office complex in Gurgaon
March 22nd, 2011 - 8:43 pm ICT by ANIGurgaon, Mar 22 (ANI): Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid today laid the foundation stone of the Office Complex of National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) at Gurgaon, Haryana.Addressing the gathering, Khurshid commended NPCC for the progress made by it in terms of increased turnover and congratulated its management for making it possible to construct its own building complex and extended his good wishes to the Corporation in the future. Minister of State for Water Resources Vincent H. Pala and Secretary of the Ministry Dhruv Vijai Singh were also present on the occasion.Before laying the foundation stone, the Chairman and Managing Director of NPCC, A. K. Jhamb briefed the dignitaries about the building plans of the project, which are meeting the concept of Green Building - a new approach to save water, energy and material resources in the construction and maintenance of the buildings and can reduce or eliminate the adverse impact of buildings on the environment and occupants. NPCC is a Govt. of India Enterprise established in 1957 under the Ministry of Water Resources. It is engaged in construction and project management services in India and abroad for institutional buildings, townships and other residential buildings, indo Bangla border fencing, roads, bops and flood lighting, dams, barrages and canals, hydro-electric power projects, thermal power projects, tunnels and underground projects, bridges and flyovers, industrial structures, surface transport projects, sewerage and water supply projects and environment projects. Till date it has completed 150 Projects. It is worth mentioning that NPCC is working in far flung areas including North-East Region. NPCC has presently shown commendable performance in terms of Turnover and Net Profit. While Turnover of the Corporation during the year 2009-2010 was Rs. 1,002.92 crore, its Net Profit was Rs.33.14 crore. NPCC has recently bagged the ‘Best Professionally Managed Company’ award conferred by Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC). (ANI)
