Safdarjung Hospital medicos strike continues
June 2nd, 2010 - 2:58 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, June 2 (ANI): The medicos strike at the Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital spilled over to the second day on Wednesday.
The medicos also blocked the Out Patients Department (OPD), stalling all services. Upping their demands, the striking students now want that Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to hear out their demands.
Over 500 junior doctors, including postgraduate students, interns and junior residents of Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital have been on strike since Tuesday to protest against the lack of basic services.
A meeting between the junior doctors and the hospital administration on Monday ended inconclusively. The medical superintendent even threatened to rusticate junior doctors. The students had staged a protest this April by blocking the Ring Road opposite the hospital.
The administration had then promised that their issues would be resolved, but refused to give a deadline. (ANI)
