Panaji, Dec 5 (ANI): A Russian girl here has alleged that a local Goa politician molested her. In her complaint, she has alleged that John Fernandes raped her on the night of December1 in his car.

John Fernandes had contested the elections on a Save Goa Front ticket. The local police have filed a case of attempted rape in this regard.

The 25-year-old woman who is associated with a five star hotel has alleged that the Politician raped her in his car, after dropping her friend to her place. She said her friend knew Frenandes, who offered to drop them on Wednesday night.

“At first we dropped my friend and then I was alone in the car with him so we started the car and stopped in the next building. He pulled the seat where I was sitting and he was on top of me,” she said.

The girl’s lawyer has sent her complaint to the Russian consulate, as she blamed the local police for not cooperating with her.

“The police officers were trying to push me not to put this complaint on him because then I will get into problems because he is a powerful respected person in Goa,” she added.

The police however, refused to comment on the matter and said the case is being investigated.

This case could ruin Goa’s reputation as a safe tourist destination. (ANI)
