Ruchika molestation case: Rathore’s 13-day parole application rejected
September 4th, 2010 - 9:02 pm ICT by ANIChandigarh, Sep.4 (ANI): A parole application filed by former Haryana Director General of Police and a convict in the Ruchika molestation case, S.P.S Rathore, has been rejected by the Panchkula administration after finding the grounds stated for seeking parole as baseless.
Rathore had applied for 13-day parole. Claiming himself to be a farmer, he reportedly stated that his crop was ready and he was required in Panchkula.
Rathore is presently lodged in Burial Jail in Chandigarh.
Ruchika, a budding tennis player, had committed suicide three years after being molested by Rathore on August 12, 1990.
Panchkula Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ashima Brar in a letter sent to Burial Jail administration, Chandigarh, stated that the grounds on which Rathore had sought parole were baseless and thus no parole should be granted to him.
Rathore is undergoing his 18-month prison term, which was awarded to him for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra 20 years ago.
On Aug. 12, 1990, the then Haryana Inspector General of Police (IGP) S.P.S. Rathore, also the Haryana Lawn Tennis Association president, had molested 14-year-old budding tennis player Ruchika Girhotra in his office room. (ANI)
