London, Aug 23 (ANI): English rocker Roger Daltrey, 64, has vowed to lead his generation in the war against ageism.
Daltrey, who was immortalised by the lyrics I hope I die before I get old, slammed the trend to retire people before they have the chance to pass on vital life skills.
Its criminal that people are being retired before they are ready to go. Many have so much to give but they never get the chance, the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
Daltrey was on Thursday joined by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger at Londons University College Hospital to raise awareness of the Teenage Cancer Trust, the charity to which the rock star devotes a great deal of his time.
He also lashed out at government red tape which he said was hindering his target of opening 22 new teenage cancer units nationwide.
Its sad, he said.
What were trying to build is extremely important for these kids, he added. (ANI)
