Roemer to visit USAID projects in Delhi
April 25th, 2011 - 7:48 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Apr. 25 (ANI): U.S. Ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer will be visiting three projects supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Sanjay Gandhi settlement area of Chanakyapuri on Tuesday.
The Technology Tools for Teaching and Training program uses technology to get children more involved and interested in the learning process and provides valuable support to teachers in the classroom.
The U.S. Government has helped introduce this education program in over 300,000 schools across eight Indian states, reaching more than 42 million children.
Complementing the work of government programs already in operation in the settlement, USAID’s “Health of the Urban Poor” program helps improve health, water, and sanitation services for poor urban communities across India.
The third project, which aims to reduce the effects of indoor air pollution on maternal and child health and implemented in partnership with the private sector, is to develop and test innovative strategies that will create a demand for improved cook stoves among the poor. (ANI)
