Robert Wagner wanted to kill Warren Beatty after marriage break-up
September 26th, 2008 - 6:10 pm ICT by ANI London, September 26 (ANI): Actor Robert Wagner was left so upset by the break-up of his first marriage to actress Natalie Wood that he had started to think about killing her lover Warren Beatty, according to his autobiography Pieces of My Heart.
The actor writes in the book that he would sit with a gun outside Beatty’’s home, and think about killing him.
The tome sheds light on Wagners career and life, his break-up with Wood, their decision to remarry a decade later, and his wifes drowning death in 1981.
“I was pretty young, and I don”t think I could have ever gone through with that act, but I was pretty frustrated and upset,” the Telegraph quoted Wagner, 78, as saying.
Wagner claims that he was left “absolutely paralysed” in November 1981, when Wood’’s body was found floating off Southern California’’s Catalina Island.
At the time, the couple had been staying on a boat with Christopher Walken, Wood’’s co-star in the film Brainstorm.
While the actor believed that his wife accidentally fell overboard, speculation arose that Wood drowned trying to flee the boat while Wagner and Walken argued over her career.
Walken thought Wood should work more, while Wagner was afraid that that would threaten his domestic happiness.
Wagner’’s film career has received a revival after his role as “Number Two” in the Austin Powers film series.
He has been married to actress Jill St. John since 1990. (ANI)
