RJD, LJP seal seat sharing agreement ahead of Bihar assembly polls
August 16th, 2010 - 7:15 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Aug 16 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav sealed a seat sharing agreement with Ramvilas Paswan’s Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) on Monday for the upcoming assembly polls in Bihar.
It has been reported that as per the pre-poll arrangement between the two parties, the RJD will field its candidates in 168 seats and the LJP will contest 68 seats.
“It gives me immense pleasure to announce that RJD and LJP led by Paswan ji have reached a seat sharing arrangement for the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar,” said Lalu Prasad Yadav, while addressing a joint conference along with Paswan. .
“The modalities of the seat sharing has been worked out where in my party would contest polls on 168 seats, while my brother Paswan’s party will contest elections on 68 seats,” he added.
Yadav, however, refuted to disclose party-wise details about the key constituencies.Meanwhile, Paswan said Lalu Yadav would be the unopposed leader of the alliance and the candidate for the post of the Chief Minister.
“LJP state president Pashupati Kumar Paras will be our candidate for the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the forthcoming Assembly elections,” he added.
On the occasion, the duo lashed out at Nitish Kumar-led Government in Bihar over charges of alleged financial irregularities in the State’s welfare scheme. (ANI)
