Republicans say Obama has delivered a ”misleading acceptance speechAugust 29th, 2008 - 8:08 pm ICT by ANI
Washington, Aug.29 (ANI): Responding to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obamas acceptance speech, the Republicans described it as a misleading one, given his “meagre” record.
Republican presidential aspirant John McCain, who had earlier congratulated Obama on his historic achievement of becoming the first African American US presidential nominee of a major party, said the Democrat was still not ready to be president.
McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds said: “Americans witnessed a misleading speech that was so fundamentally at odds with the meagre record of Barack Obama.
“When the temple comes down, the fireworks end, and the words are over, the facts remain. Senator Obama still has no record of bipartisanship, still opposes offshore drilling, still voted to raise taxes on those making just 42,000 US dollars (PS22,900) per year, and still voted against funds for American troops in harm’’s way, he added.
Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, wholeheartedly endorsed him on Tuesday, saying that he had laid out “specific, bold solutions and optimistic vision for our nation and our children’’s future”.
“His speech crystallized the clear choice between he and Senator McCain,” the former first lady said. (ANI)
