Reducing global warming primary responsibility of developed nations: Ramesh

Bharatiya Janata Party Shimla, Oct. 31 (ANI): Reacting to the statement of India’s Telecom Minister A Raja that a controversy over spectrum allocation took place during their stint, the main opposition questioned why he remained silent so far.

“I say where was Mr. Raja up till now? There have been now five years of their own rule. He was the minister; he could have said it earlier. Because now he is under dock therefore they are coming with all these things,” senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi said on Friday (October 30).

Raja said on Friday that he wouldn’t step down from his position in the wake of charges that his spectrum allocation policies have caused a revenue loss of 60,000 crore rupees.

The Telecom Minister alleged that the BJP-led NDA government was involved in the “biggest ever scam”, as it distributed free spectrum to operators depriving the exchequer of over 1, 60,000 rupees crore revenue.

BJP has been demanding for Raja’s resignation ever since Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s nodal investigating agency searched offices of the Telecom Ministry and some private mobile operators last week over the allegations.

Meanwhile Joshi also expressed confidence that his party would resolve the internal feud within BJP in southern Karnataka state.

“Karnataka, Mr. Arun Jaitely has gone there and I think he will look into the matter and set things right,” said Joshi.

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley was in Bangalore city to diffuse the stand-off that has come up between state chief B S Yeddyurappa and three of his cabinet ministers. (ANI)
