Leh, Aug 13 (ANI): The Druk White Lotus School on the Leh-Manali highway, where Aamir Khan’s blockbuster comedy film ‘3 Idiots’ was shot last year, reopened a week after it was damaged by the flash floods in the region.
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan got in touch with the school principal and is planning to visit the place soon to offer his help.
The principal of the school said it was back to normal with the help of volunteers and prayers of all.
“The only take on this is that team work works. My thanks to staffs and teachers and all the volunteers, who have come here to help us. Also thanks to blessings of his holiness the twelfth Galvang Rupa,” said Prasad Eledath, Principal.
“There are so many well wishers who want the school to get back to its feet and I think that has really made a difference to the school and we are gradually returning back to the normalcy,” he added.
Though the school’s building did not suffer much damage, but boulders and mud filled its interiors.
Computers in the science laboratory were totally destroyed.
The boulders and the weight of the slush broke many boards and other teaching equipment, while sports equipments was washed away.
Around 175 students were in the hostel when the tragic incident took place.
“I am feeling nice to be back at school. I was staying at the hostel at the trouble night. Our hostel was surrounded by water from two sides. With the grace of god our house mother and teachers help us and we thank to god,” said Kunjan Dolma, a student. (ANI)
