Rajiv Shukla blames BJP of appeasing Pakistan during NDA ruleJune 8th, 2009 - 11:22 pm ICT by ANI
New Delhi, June 8 (ANI): Ruling Congress Party on Monday blamed Bharatiya Janata Party, the main Opposition party in Parliament, of following a policy of “appeasement” of Pakistan, saying there were numerous examples of its “soft approach” towards Islamabad during the BJP-led NDA rule.
Participating in the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in Rajya Sabha, Congress leader Rajiv Shukla attacked the BJP for its frequent allegations that Congress follows a policy of appeasement.
“BJP frequently accuses us of appeasement but the party itself can easily be charged with a policy of appeasement towards Pakistan,” Shukla said.”Offering ‘chadar’ at mausoleum of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, starting Lahore bus services, calling Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to Agra and getting the country insulted, strengthening the Jaish-e-Mohammed (by freeing terrorists in the Kandahar hijack episode). There are numerous examples,” Rajiv Shukla blamed BJP leadership.
“Everybody knows, who adopted a soft approach towards Pakistan,” he added in response to BJP leader Arun Shourie, who criticized the government for giving evidence of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks to Pakistan. (ANI)
