Rahul Gandhi vows to help the poorApril 11th, 2009 - 5:46 pm ICT by ANI
Godavarikhani (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 11 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Saturday vowed to help the poor, despite opposition parties calling his initiatives political drama.
“When I go to villages and spend time with the villagers, opposition parties make fun of me, saying that I am doing a drama. They think, because they try to look at the poor through the eyes of the rich. I always try to see the world through the eyes of the poor. I will continue to come to you, listen to you, work for you and nobody can stop me for doing that,” Gandhi said while addressing an election rally here.
Gandhi said he spends time with the poor to understand their problems clearly and help in overall development of the country.
“I believe that helping poor people will help country to move forward,” he added.
Gandhi appealed people to vote for the Congress.
“Vote for the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in New Delhi and in state vote for the Congress party, and allow us work for the youth, for the poor,” Gandhi added. (ANI)
