New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): Urging the youths of India to join Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, the young scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family, made his first speech at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting here today after becoming the general secretary of his party.
His short speech that remained focussed on youth impressed many senior leaders of the party, including the Prime Minister
“The true realisation of India’s power lies in igniting the fire of ambition of our aspiring Indians. It is we, ‘the youth’, who have the greatest stake in our future. It is from among the youth that tomorrow’s leader will rise,” Rahul said, amidst applause.
The 37-year-old leader, who represents Amethi constituency in the Lok Sabha, also stressed on the need for giving attention to poor people of the country.
Rahul urges his party men to have faith in him and promised, “‘I won’t let you down.”
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh praised Rahul for taking initiative for extending the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act to all parts of the country.
”I am confident that the young leaders of the Congress party like Rahul Gandhi can win the minds and affections of our youth and take the party and the nation to new frontiers and new heights of glory,” Singh said. (ANI)
