Jhansi, Jan 16 (ANI): Coming down heavily on the Mayawati Government for existing state of collapse in Bundelkhand region of the state, Congress General Secretary and MP, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday favoured bifurcation of Uttar Pradesh.
“Administratively its too big, I personally think smaller state could be a solution but how it has to done is to be looked into, he told reporters.
After visiting Mahoba, Banda, Jalon, Hamirpur and Ullan, where he talked to the families of the farmers who committed suicide suffering due to indebtness and agrarian crisis, Rahul Gandhi said: The backbone is broken. It is a state of collapse and the people are forced to migrate.
Rahul also pointed out that the central schemes specially the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme has not been implemented by the state in an appropriate way.
There is drought and people in debt as farms are not producing anything, said Rahul, adding, There is no delivery on the ground, it is not the question of money coming.”
The Congress General Secretary is slated to address a public rally in Jhansi town after a meeting with the local leaders tomorrow, said his media release. (ANI)
