Kolkata, Sep 14 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi arrived here today on a three-day visit of West Bengal in order to rejuvenate the state Congress ahead of next year’s assembly elections.
He left for Panagarh in Burdwan District where he will interact with students of the Visva Bharati University.
He will visit Basirhat in North 24 Parganas and Garden Reach in South 24 Parganas and interact with potential Youth Congress candidates.
He will address three meetings at Howrah, Bardhaman and Garhbeta in West Medinipur district and hold press conference at Kolkata on September 16.
This is his second visit to the state within a fortnight. He had addressed a rally here on September 6 in which he slammed the CPI(M).
Earlier, alleging that there were ‘two Bengals’, one of the poor and the other of the privileged people of the CPI-M, Gandhi said: “CPI-M does not belong to the poor people of the state - the adivasis, the marginalised and the poor.”
“The CPI-M runs a privileged network of its people and shares the benefits of the administration through its “mafia-type” set-up,” he added.
He further said that there would be a change in Bengal in the next four to five months.
“Just as it did in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. There was a time when Bengal would think, and the rest of the country would do it,” he added. (ANI)
