Abohar, Oct.22 (ANI): Pakistan is in turmoil; fighting the Taliban. Everyone in India hopes that it will succeed in putting down terrorism in the country. One also wishes that better sense will prevail with programmers of Punjabi Durbar programme of Radio Pakistan, who still feel there should be trouble in India too.

The recent bulletin of Punjabi Darbar programme of Radio Pakistan has again raised the issue of a separate nation for the Sikhs. It has stated that the promises given to the Sikhs during the Partition have not been honoured.

“Pakistan’s attempt to promote a proxy war in Punjab in the eighties did not succeed. Today, India has a Sikh Prime Minister. Manmohan Singh has been elected Prime Minister for the second time. Earlier, we had a Sikh President in Gyani Zail Singh.

“Hindus, Moslems Sikhs and people of all other religions live together in the country. The most important thing is that people of Punjab share unique relations. In many families one brother is a Hindu, while the other one is Sikh. For example, my relatives from maternal side are Sikhs. We all live in harmony and no divisive thoughts have evolved in people’s mind ever; it will not be there in future also,” said Ashok Dheer, historian and a senior lawyer.

“Pakistan doesn’t want to see India stable. The result of Pakistan propaganda has been that within Pakistan Sindhis consider themselves as Sindhis, Punjabis as Punjabis and Bakhturis as Bakhturis. They are fighting with each other. People of India do not think along those lines. They respect the fact that they belong to the same country. The secret of success is to maintain the brotherhood in the country. Punjab will never let happen anything like that,” Dheer added.

The latest remark blaming the Government being unfair to Sikh community seems out of place, especially when a Sikh leader in Manmohan Singh is heading the country.

Dr. Manmohan Singh has been made the Prime Minister of the country for the second time. How can such a country be unfair to the Sikh community.

In India with people of all religions, including the Sikhs, have held high posts.

Pakistan is fighting the Taliban, which has been created by it. Its political system is under stress Instead of looking inwards, Radio Pakistan is obsessed with creating tension in India.

Pakistan should remember that Sikhs had to leave their towns and villages during Partition when their families were attacked. They are happy in India, and work for the unity and integrity of the country. (ANI)
