Gurdaspur, Dec.5 (ANI): Though India is today looked upon by the world community for its democratic values and social fabric where over a billion people of diverse cultures co-exit in harmony and participate in each other’s festivals, broadcasters of Radio Pakistan are sceptical about this well-known reality.

Radio Pakistan in its Punjabi Darbar programme has blamed the Hindus for discrimination not only against the Sikhs but also Muslims and Christians. It has further said that Sikhs have been migrating from India because of atrocities by Hindus.

People living in the border villages view such propaganda-based programmes as attempts to spread communal disharmony and hatred among Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians.

Prakash Singh Bhatti, a Sikh politician described these allegations `false’ and `malicious’.

“In our country Sikhs have always been given equal respect. India is a democratic country. The Sikhs have been elected as the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff with great honour.”

“The whole world is now aware of the tactics, thoughts and the thinking of Pakistan for different religions. Today, all the countries are standing together to fight terrorism but Pakistan is the only one, which always encourages terrorism. The ISI agency of Pakistan sends its agents to various countries to spread terrorism. The whole world has condemned the 26/11 attacks. The Pakistan is not ready to accept the facts even after getting all the proofs. All the newspaper across the world condemn Pakistan’s act, ” Bhatti stated.

“To harm India, Pakistan has long been misdirecting the young Sikhs of Punjab in the name of religion,” Bhatti further added.

Under the Indian Constitution, all citizens irrespective of their caste, colour, religious faith have the Right to Equality, Right to live with dignity and practice one’s religion, and Right to freedom of speech and expression. These are fundamental rights, available to all Indian citizens, and enforceable in the court of law by any citizen.

And, Radio Pakistan must remember India is led by Sardar Manmohan Singh, a Sikh by religion and Indian by heart.

Pakistan doesn’t seem to have such a constitution that allows equality for all. The minorities are usually found crying for justice and suffer discrimination.

People in the border areas ask, if Radio Pakistan believes that Pakistan is a haven of communal harmony and justice for all, why is it today looked upon as a haven of terrorists, why Sikhs in the Swat Valley suffer atrocities. (ANI)
