Radhika Tanwar murder: Delhi Police releases sketch of suspect
March 9th, 2011 - 8:51 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Mar 9 (ANI): Delhi Police today released the sketch of the suspected killer of Delhi University student Radhika Tanwar, who was shot dead near South Delhi’s Ramlal Anand College on Tuesday morning.”There was only one assailant. It appears that somebody who is obsessed with her was behind the murder. A lot of people witnessed the incident. Every body denied that they saw it. We have not come across anybody who said they have seen it. It is not possible,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal.
“There was also delay in taking the victim to a hospital,” he added.
DCP Dhaliwal said that sketch of the suspect, a youth who is around five feet five inches tall with a wheatish complexion, has been prepared with the help of three persons.
“We are on the killer’s trail. It is a planned murder. The suspect knew her very well. He knew her routine. The assailant selected the FoB because it was congested and he thought he could escape fast,” Dhaliwal said.
“He knew that he could not attack her on a public bus and he could be caught. He observed her movements and decided to attack her on the FoB. He waited at the ramp, attacked her and then fled,” he added.
The DCP further said: “The family is cooperating with us although they are grieving.”
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit earlier today met the family members of murdered Delhi University student Radhika Tanwar and assured them that the government will do the needful to ensure that they get justice.
Dikshit, who had expressed concern over the killing on Tuesday, met Radhika Tanwar’s family at Naraina village here.
21-year-old Tanwar was shot at by unidentified persons near South Delhi’s Ramlal Anand College on Tuesday morning, where she was enrolled.
She was shot while she was walking across a pedestrian bridge near the Ramlal Anand College in Shantiniketan area.
The attacker, however, managed to escape in the commotion that erupted after he fired at Radhika. (ANI)
