Patna, Aug 3 (ANI): The locals resorted to violence in Bihar’s Patna city on Tuesday over the killing of a youth in their locality.

The locals of Samanpura neighbourhood attacked shops and vandalised public property to protest the killing of Mohammed Ishtiyaq by a group of persons.

They later pelted stones at the police personnel, who were compelled to fire tear gas shells to disperse the mob.Reportedly, a group led by one Ejajulah barged into the residence of Ishtiyaq in broad daylight and shot him after dragging him out of the house.

“We were sitting in room and our mother was cooking food and my brother was sleeping. They dragged him out, we tried to save him and then they pointed the gun and said if we speak they will shoot us as well. After that they shot him and ran away. We could do nothing,” said Ishtiyaq’s sister Shabab.

“He (Ejajulah) killed him over the renewal of the lease of the house that he had rented or to vacate, as he was living in our flat for the past 10 years. Our father didn’t say anything, but my brother went and said either renew the rent agreement that had elapsed or to vacate the house; Over this matter they created such a big issue,” she added.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Manu Mahajan said an FIR has been filed against five people in this case and two have been arrested so far.

“The matter is concerning their own fight. FIR (first information report) has been filed against five, two have been arrested and the rest investigation is in progress,” said Mahajan. (ANI)
