Prof.Sabharwal’s son taken into custody for protest at India Gate
July 26th, 2009 - 11:33 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, July 26 (ANI): Himanshu Sabharwal, son of deceased Professor H.S.Sabharwal, and about 25 others were taken into preventive custody for organising a candle-light vigil at India Gate here.
They were demanding justice in the alleged killing of Professor H.S.Sabharwal of Ujjain.
Himanshu and others were detained from India Gate at around 6:00 pm while staging the ‘Justice for Professor Sabharwal’ campaign here.
All six accused, related to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (A.B.V.P) unit of Madhya Pradesh, were acquitted by a court on July 13 for lack of evidence in the case of Professor Sabharwal.
Professor H.S.Sabharwal died after being beaten up by students in Ujjain’s Madhav College August 2006. (ANI)
