London, Sept.2 (ANI): Heir to the British throne, Prince William, is likely to be seconded to the elite SAS guards later this year.
The Ministry of Defence has just applied to trademark the unit’’s distinctive winged sword insignia, with its famous motto Who Dares Wins, on a variety of goods.
The application, made under the name of the Secretary of State for Defence, Des Browne, would mean the symbol of Britain’’s elite fighting unit could be used on various merchandise from commemorative medals and badges to jewellery.
Other items listed, for which the MoD has applied for exclusive trademark rights, include pottery, glassware, Christmas cards, books and clothes.
The Special Air Service, which was set up in 1941, is the British Army’’s most renowned unit, admired for its work in worldwide counter terrorism, reports the Daily Star.
It emerged at the weekend that several hundred terrorists have been killed and 3,500 insurgents taken off the sreets of Baghdad in a “secret war” by the SAS against Al Qaeda in Iraq over the past two years. (ANI)
