President Patil to inaugurate International Mathematicians Congress in Hyderabad
August 18th, 2010 - 3:06 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Aug 18 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will visit Hyderabad on Wednesday evening to inaugurate the International Mathematicians Congress, which would be held from August 19 to 27.
The International Mathematical Union is organizing the Congress in collaboration with the University of Hyderabad.
Over 3000 delegates from all over the world are taking part in the nine-day long deliberations being organised in India for the first time in more than 100 years of its history.
At least 170 papers are being presented in the deliberation, which has more than 20 areas of mathematics including logic and foundations, algebra, number theory, functional analysis and applications and mathematics education and popularization of mathematics.
Several prestigious international Mathematical Awards like the Fields Medals, the Nevanlinna Prize and the Gauss Prize will be presented on the occasion.
The International Congress of Women Mathematicians is also being held on the sidelines of the Congress. (ANI)
