President Patil invites Team India for tea
April 3rd, 2011 - 12:26 pm ICT by ANIMumbai, Apr 3 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has invited the Indian Cricket team for tea at the Raj Bhawan here this evening a day after they lifted the tenth Cricket World Cup with a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka.
It would be the first official engagement for Team India.
President Patil sat through the entire match at the Wankhede Stadium here and cheered the Indian cricket team.
India lifted the cricket World Cup on Saturday after 28 years. It may be recalled that in 1983, the Indian team led by Kapil Dev lifted the World Cup by defeating the West Indies by 43 runs. (ANI)
