Jammu, Oct 9 (IANS) It was an unforgettable day for Rukhsana Kausar, who shot into limelight after killing a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Abu Osama last month, when President Pratibha Patil met her in Rajouri town Friday afternoon and commended her “rare courage”.
The president, who was on a day-long visit to the forward areas in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu region, had specially included in her itinerary a meeting with Rukhsana, who killed the militant Sep 27.

Rukhsana was accompanied by her younger brother Eijaz at the meeting which lasted about 15 minutes.

The president heard Rukhsana relate the whole sequence of events of the night when the three LeT militants had barged into their house and started beating her father, Noor Mohammad.

Rukhsana later told reporters that the meeting was a “life time experience” for her, specially when the President lauded her courage and wanted to know how she had summoned it at that time.

The president also heard with a smile Rukhsana’s plea for arms training for all girls living in the militancy-infested areas of the state.

In the meeting, Rukhsana also took the opportunity to relay her problems to the president, who is said to have promised to get these settled in the next few days.
