Preference should be given to production of biofuels, says Gadkari
October 19th, 2010 - 10:52 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Oct.19 (ANI): Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that preference should be given to the production of biofuels as this would reduce country’s expense for importing crude oil.
Speaking at a daylong conference on biofuels for national security here today, Gadkari said: “Bio diesel is good for reducing the pollution level in the environment and particularly for import subsidy. Ethenol causes less pollution where as diesel petrol causes more, it’s benefiting environment as well. Hence, I feel by looking at the country’s economy, bio-fuels should be given preferences.”
Gadkari also recommended the need for diversification of agricultural sector towards energy and power sector as this will generate employment at larger scale for the rural sector and the tribal sector and it will also strengthen the economy.
“Bio fuels are lifeline for agriculture and tribal sector. For sectors who are socially backward, helpless people and children who are on the verge of committing suicide and who do not have employment, if they engage themselves in the field of diesel, petrol and ethanol gas, they will get the job in this field. So, I believe this will change country’s economy,” said Gadkari. (ANI)
