Pratapgarh stampede claims over 60 lives
March 4th, 2010 - 4:41 pm ICT by ANIPratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 4 (ANI): At least 60 people have been killed and 50 injured on Thursday in a stampede at Ram Janki Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh District.
According to Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal over 50 people have been killed.
The incident occurred in the Mangarh area of Kunda town after the temple main gate collapsed.
Over 30 people are feared trapped in the debris. Most are women and children.
The crowd gathered to attend a ‘bhandara’ of Swami Kripaluji Maharaj.
Police and administrative officials are engaged in rescue and relief work. (ANI)
