Pranab to inaugurate conference of CCS and DGS of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax on Tuesday

New Delhi, June 14 (ANI: Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the annual conference of the Chief Commissioners & Directors General of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, in the national capital on Tuesday.
“The two-day conference shall see five breakaway groups of Chief Commissioners and Directors General deliberating intensively on five major areas of governance in the realm of indirect taxation. These include: Issues pertaining to GST implementation, Human Resources, Improving Productivity, Vision - I - for efficient Revenue Management, and Vision-II - for facilitation and improved Tax Payer Services,” said a Government release.
These five groups will hold discussions in parallel sessions during the first day of the conference and shall present their observations and suggestions for consideration before the full house on the second day.
Between them, the groups shall look into the entire gamut of issues of concern to the Indirect Tax administration of the country. Apart from GST, this shall include Revenue collections, IT initiatives to facilitate tax payer services with better enforcement, Audit controls and measures to curb evasion and improve tax compliance.
The conference will also provide an opportunity to the Chief Commissioners and the Directors General from all over the country to exchange information and share best practises.
The Minister of State for Finance (Revenue) S.S. Palanimanickam will preside over the valedictory function in the evening of June 16, 2010. (ANI)
