Poonam Mahajan to contest from Ghatkopar West in Maharashtra polls

Mumbai, Sep.19 (ANI): Issuing its first list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday gave ticket to Poonam Mahajan, the daughter of the deceased BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan from Ghatkopar West area. In its first list of candidates for the Assembly elections, BJP announced the names of 66 candidates of which 23 are sitting MLAs who have been given the tickets.
However, nine BJP sitting MLAs have been denied tickets.
Earlier, in the day, the Shiv Sena and BJP announced to have arrived at a seat-sharing agreement for the October 13 Maharashtra Assembly Elections.
BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde informed media persons in Bandra that as per the agreement, Shiv Sena would contest 169 and BJP 119 seats for the 288-member Assembly.” (ANI)
