Poll agent dies in a scuffle between two poll candidates in Haryana
October 13th, 2009 - 10:52 pm ICT by ANIKailthal, Oct 13(ANI): A polling agent was killed in Haryana’s Kailthal district on Tuesday following a clash between supporters of a Congress party candidate and an independent candidate.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Kaithal, Amneet P. Kumar, the clash took place when supporters of Congress candidate Dillu Ram objected to independent candidate Kulwant Bazigar’s agent, who was assisting a blind voter to go to the polling booth in Gulha Assembly constituency of Kaithal district.
“A blind man had come to cast his vote, when Jyoti, a polling agent of Bazigar, came forward to assist him towards the booth to cast his vote. Polling agent of the other party objected to it, which resulted in a clash between them,” Kumar said.
“When Jyoti came out of the polling station, he suddenly collapsed. He was rushed to Kurukshetra nursing home, where he was declared dead,” he added. (ANI)
