Police looking into Babbar Khalsa presence in Kashmir
October 14th, 2011 - 7:53 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Oct 14 (IANS) Police are verifying if there was presence of Babbar Khalsa International in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in areas in and around Simbal camp near Jammu, in the wake of the seizure of an explosives-laden car from Ambala, Haryana on Wednesday.
Five kg of RDX and detonators and timers were recovered from the car, and police claimed it was part of a major terror plot on the union capital in the run up to the Diwali festival.
As Jammu and Kashmir police were informed about the recovery of the car, which is reported to have begun its journey from the state, and the seizure of the explosives, the state police have been working on this.
“As it is stated that it was a joint plot of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Babbar Khalsa International, we are working to find out who all could have been involved and from where the explosives could have been procured and transported later,” a senior police officer told IANS.
Ranjeet Singh alias Neeta, chief of the Khalistan Zindabad Force, belongs to Simbal camp area, near Jammu (about 15 km from the city), and he is currently in Lahore, Pakistan, according to the police sources.
The police is making physical verification and going to question some people, the sources said.
Meanwhile, a team of Jammu police has been sent to Delhi to assist in the investigations.
