Police baton charge Lucknow teachers
February 23rd, 2010 - 12:38 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Lucknow, Feb 23 (ANI): Police resorted to a baton-charge here on Monday to control a mob of unemployed aspiring teachers who were demanding jobs.
Graduates of B.Ed (Bachelors of Education) and B.P.Ed (Bachelor of Physical Education) staged a demonstration outside the Legislative Assembly, blaming Uttar Pradesh Government for the delay in giving them jobs.
Protestors under the banner of B.Ed Berojgar Sangharsh Samiti (B.Ed unemployed struggle committee) claimed that the present Mayawati government before assuming office had assured vacancies for B.Ed students but it has not even begun the process.
“We are participating as Mayawati government had announced 28,000 vacancies in February but nothing has been done in this regard till now. What can we unemployed B.Ed people do? No step has been taken till now about the 28,000 vacancies that were allowed earlier. But now they are giving jobs to BTC (Basic Training Certificate) people. If BTC will start then where will B.Ed people go? Our future will turn into darkness,” said Amit Rajput, a protestor.
Protestors said it is unfair that government is a providing jobs to people who have done BTC, which is mandatory course for serving as assistant teachers in the primary schools of Uttar Pradesh. (ANI)
