Jammu Feb.25 (ANI): At least a dozen people were injured here on Thursday, when the police baton charged the state government employees demanding all the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.
The state government employees were demanding all the benefits that have been introduced under the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, asking the government that retirement age be increased to 60 years instead of the existing 58 years.
Earlier in the day, around 10,000 State Government employees of different departments blocked the traffic at a busy road of the city and raised slogans against the government.
The police resorted to cane charging and used water canons to disperse the mob, which was heading towards the state secretariat to press their demands.
The state police took into its custody over 400 employees, who were all determined to get their demands fulfilled.
