Pokhriyal to assume office of Uttarakhand Chief Minister today
June 27th, 2009 - 12:32 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, June27 (ANI): Ramesh Pokhriyal will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand today.
The writer - journalist turned politician, will be the state’s fifth chief minister. He will be sworn in by state Governor B L Joshi in Dehradun.
Pokhriyal was elected leader of the BJP Legislative Party after the resignation of Maj. Gen (Retd) B C Khanduri.
He staked a claim to form the new government after Khanduri resigned on Thursday owning moral responsibility for the BJP’s poor performance in the recent general election in Uttarakhand. (ANI)
