PM convenes meeting to solve CWG issues

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Following
controversies over preparedness for the Commonwealth Games, Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh on Saturday called a meeting with concerned ministers to take
account of the preparations for the mega event to be held here in October.
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s residence and Sports Ministers M S
Gill, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila
Dikshit, Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi and
some top government officials were present at the meeting. Cabinet Secretary KM
Chandrasekhar also attended the meeting.
According to the sources the Organising
Committee of the CWG will report to an oversight panel headed by Sports
Minister MS Gill.
Today’s meet was a follow up of the earlier meeting in which Congress’ top
brass, including party chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister, deliberated on
the matter to ensure that CWG goes smoothly.
