PM condoles passing away of Sri Satya Saibaba

Manmohan Singh New Delhi/ Puttaparthi, Apr 24 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, today condoled the passing away of prominent religious leader Sri Satya Sai Baba.

“I learnt of the passing away of Sri Satya Saibaba with deep and profound sadness. Sri Satya Saibaba was a spiritual leader who inspired millions to lead a moral and meaningful life even as they followed the religion of their choice. His teachings were rooted in the universal ideals of truth, right conduct, peace, love and non-violence,” said Dr. Singh in his condolence message.

“Sri Satya Saibaba as a preacher of the highest human values was an iconic figure for over five decades. He endeared himself to the people through various institutions, with headquarters at Prashanthi Nilayam, that promoted egalitarian values, education and public health,” he added.

The Prime Minister further said Sri Satya Saibaba was an inspiration to people of all faiths, as he believed that it is the duty of every person to ensure that all people have access to the basic requirements for sustenance of life.

“The passing away of Sri Satya Saibaba is an irreparable loss to all and the nation deeply mourns his passing away. I express my sincere condolences to the millions of his followers, disciples and well wishers,” said Dr. Singh.

Sathya Sai Baba, who was admitted to the super-speciality hospital at Prashantigram at Puttaparthi on March 28, following respiration-related problems, passed away at around 7.40 a.m. today due to cardio-respiratory failure. He was 85.

His body will be kept at the Sai Kulwant Hall for two days for people to pay their homage to the spiritual guru. (ANI)
