Pilots’ strike: Special trains to clear extra rush
April 29th, 2011 - 5:05 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Apr 29 (ANI): In order to clear extra rush of passengers due to pilots strike of Air India, the Ministry of Railways has decided to run special trains on important sectors.
The special trains so far has been started in six important sectors namely; Delhi - Mumbai, Delhi - Kolkata, Delhi - Hyderabad, Mumbai - Hyderabad, Mumbai - Bikaner and Chennai - Banglore.
While some of these trains are Rajdhani type fully air-conditioned superfast trains having 1st AC, 2nd AC and 3rd AC coaches, the others have both AC and non AC coaches. These special trains have already started running since Thursday.
Railways will keep watch on the waiting list of the trains and attach additional coaches to clear extra rush subject to operational feasibility and availability of coaching stock.
All zonal railways have been directed to take necessary steps to clear extra rush.
The Public Relations offices and commercial offices of respective Zonal Railways have started disseminating information about the detailed time-table of these special trains.
Air India has also been requested to make announcements for the benefit of the passengers. These trains are available on PRS system for booking. (ANI)
