Pilot killed in Begumpet naval aircraft crash
March 3rd, 2010 - 3:13 pm ICT by ANIHyderabad, Mar 3 (ANI): Hyderabad Police on Wednesday confirmed the death of the pilot manning the crashed Kiran HJT-16 aircraft during an Air Show near Begumpet Airport.
The aircraft crashed into the third floor of a residential building as it was executing ‘Sagar Pawan’ formation.
Sources said a detailed probe has been ordered into the crash that will be held under the supervision of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-chief, Naval Aviation.
Sources said the Kiran fleet may be grounded following today’s crash.
Around seven people have been injured and have been taken to the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.
The aircraft was a part of the Indian Navy’s ‘Sagar Pawan’ acrobatic display. (ANI)
