PETA activists protest against leather industriesDecember 19th, 2007 - 10:20 pm ICT by admin
Bangalore, Dec 19 (ANI): Activists of ‘People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) today protested against leather industries alleging them for encouraging cruelty against animals.
Banners reading ‘Imagine Getting Killed For Your Skin’ and ‘Leather is Murder’ were displayed during the protest.
The organisation urged consumers not to buy leather products saying that this would eventually stop slaughterhouses.
“You wouldn’t skin human for a leather bag, for a human leather bag or a belt or a shoe; why would you skin a calf?,” questioned Natasha Paul, PETA’s Campaign Co-ordinator.
“The cruelty involved in the leather industries, what the animals go through, is unimaginable. I think people should really give up leather,” she added.
Drawing the attention of the people and state authorities towards the illegal and cruel animal slaughtering, PETA demanded that the government should take action against such killing and implement new laws to restrict cruelty towards animals. (ANI)
