People magazine denies bowing to Jolies positive coverage pressureNovember 24th, 2008 - 12:45 pm ICT by ANI
Washington, Nov 24 (ANI): People magazine has denied there were any restrictions or conditions placed during Hollywood actress Angelina Jolies twins pictures deal.
According to reports, a deal Jolie struck with the magazine to publish pictures of her newborn twins not only involved a 14 million dollars payment but also an alleged guarantee of “positive” coverage, reports CBS News.
She reportedly made the condition during negotiations with People and other magazines, which were competing to carry the first pictures of the latest additions to the Hollywood couple’’s family.
The actress sought a promise from the winning magazine that it would not include any negative coverage of their family, not only in the piece about the twins but also in all future articles, according to reports.
However, People Deputy Managing Editor Peter Castro flatly denied it, saying its “absolutely not true. People magazine never promises good publicity or any kind of editorial control. … I guarantee you that, if Angelina Jolie screwed up, People magazine, along with a lot of other magazines, would be all over that story.
