Peace youth conference organised in honor of Dalai Lama
October 28th, 2009 - 3:41 pm ICT by ANIDharamsala, Oct 28 (ANI): Three Nobel Peace laureates participated in a peace youth conference organised in honor of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama in Dharamsala.
Three Nobel peace laureates, Shirin Ebadi from Iran, Mairead Corrigan Maguire from Northern Ireland and Jody Williams of United States along with the people of Tibet were present to grace the occasion at Upper Tibetan Children Village school auditorium.
For 50 years, the 14th Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and the people of Tibet have waged a peaceful struggle to preserve their ancient culture, religion, language and identity.
“This public ceremony is conducted to express the three laureates’ appreciation for his holiness’ efforts to resolve the issue of Tibet peacefully,” said Thubten Samphel, spokesperson of the Government -in-exile.
The Nobel Peace laureates expressed their grave concern about the survival of Tibetan identity and offered their support to Dalai Lama for his non-violent efforts to attain autonomy for the Tibetans. (ANI)
